Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Skill Framework

Noova's skill framework follows a hierarchical structure: Skill Framework → Job Families → Skill Domains → Skills → Skill Levels. Each framework has a unique code, version, and status (draft/active/archived), allowing flexible management and phased deployment across the organization.
Noova supports a 10-level proficiency system for each skill. Each level has a name and detailed description of competency requirements. When mapping skills to positions, you define the required level, mandatory/optional classification, and weight to reflect how important each skill is for that particular role.
Noova supports 6 skill assessment methods: tests integrated with the LMS, manager assessments, certification validation, project-based assessments, peer reviews, and self-assessments. Assessment results include the assessed level, required level, and the competency gap for each skill.
Employees can upload skill evidence such as certificates, project reports, or evaluation results. Each piece of evidence is linked to specific skills through Skill Evidence Mappings. Direct managers or HR review and verify the evidence. Once verified, the skill is recorded in Verified Skill Records - the employee's official competency profile.
The Skill Gap Analysis tab displays detailed differences between an employee's current skill levels and position requirements. You can view gaps for individual skills, aggregated by department, or across the entire organization. The system also provides Position Readiness Assessments and Career Readiness Evaluations to support promotion and succession decisions.
Based on skill gap analysis results, Noova automatically suggests relevant courses, assessments, and certifications from the LMS. For example, if an employee lacks 'Project Management' skills at level 5, the system will recommend the corresponding PMP course. This creates a continuous development loop: assess → identify gaps → train → reassess.
Skill Framework integrates closely with multiple Noova modules: LMS (linking skills to courses, assessments, certificates), Training Management (gap-based training recommendations), Succession Planning (candidate readiness assessment), Individual Development Plans (IDP based on skill gaps), and Performance Management (competency as an evaluation dimension).
Absolutely! Noova allows you to create and manage multiple skill frameworks in parallel, each with its own version and status. You can create separate frameworks for different departments, job streams, or organizational levels. The version management system lets you update frameworks without affecting assessment data from previous versions.
